Somerset Development Company, LLC specializes in revitalization of urban communities.  Somerset based in Washington, D.C. and founded in 2000, develops and preserves affordable housing, develops new urban communities, renovates historic properties, mixed-use properties, adaptive re-use, and commercial real estate that strengthen local communities.  Somerset has a strong record of partnering with tenant associations, community organizations, local business, and the public sector that share Somerset's vision of building stronger communities.

Somerset was founded in 2000 by Jim Campbell and Nancy Hooff.  Mr. Campbell has over 29 years of experience in real estate development and finance, and Ms. Hooff has over 25 years of urban, community, and international development experience.  Somerset is a 51% woman-owned business and is certified in Washington, D.C. as an LSDBE (Local Small Disadvantaged Business Enterprise).

Somerset Development Company has redeveloped and preserved the affordability of five properties in Washington, D.C., four in the Columbia Heights neighborhood and one in Southeast, which present about 570 affordable units. In Baltimore, Somerset built a new 32 urban townhome community just blocks from Penn Station and is currently renovating the historic Professional Arts Builsing converting it to 96 rental apartments.
